For ten years, UKSF has assisted Bucks New Uni with the delivery and operation of new state-of-the-art en-suite student accommodation. In 2008, we established a bespoke charity (“Chiltern Student Villages”) and bought land in High Wycombe for the delivery of up to 650 new bedrooms for the University’s students. We brokered a deal with Bank of Scotland for the Charity to borrow an initial £20m for phase one, where we built the first 234 student bedspaces to a very high design specification.
We project managed the build with colleagues from other professional disciplines and delivered the blocks on time and under budget. Phase two followed on in 2014 and the bedrooms on site now stand at 414. The final blocks will be built once the University has made a decision about its Brook Street residences.
UKSF’s Team have remained Trustees of the Charity and UKSF has recently procured a £38.75m refinancing of the original facility with one of the Aviva Life Funds (spring 2017). This saw the original debt repaid and a significant multi-million pound donation made to the University, without the debt being consolidated on to the University balance sheet. UKSF is a key partner of the University and the Charity and will remain in situ for as long as it is needed.
